PM addresses alleged police corruption

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis asserted Monday afternoon that any allegation of police corruption should be taken seriously; he made this assertion via the app ‘X’ on Monday afternoon.

“The allegations involving police misconduct are serious, and they are being taken seriously. The Commissioner of Police moved quickly to suspend the officer in question and to initiate a thorough, professional investigation,” he said.

“As of late last week, there were discussions about how best to utilize international expertise and support for the investigation, and we expect more announcements will be forthcoming on that front.”

News broke last week that Johnson, and a well known attorney, were allegedly recorded having conversations with an accused criminal; the voice notes indicated a scheme where Johnson would allegedly receive a payout of $100, 000 and the notable attorney was reportedly to receive the same amount in exchange for the alleged criminal’s freedom.

The alleged criminal Michael Fox Jr, now deceased, was accused, alongside others, of being involved in a major armor truck heist.
