NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Press Secretary Clint Watson confirmed that the Progressive Liberal Party has fully reimbursed the government for the delegation trip to Bermuda led by the prime minister.
Watson gave the update at the Office of the Prime Minister Press Briefing on Thursday morning saying that the Bermuda trip is now behind them.
“We’re trying to finalize the total amount of that. I think it was close to, I think from the records that I’ve received, it’s just under $60,000 in total for the entire thing,” he said.
The controversial trip was met with criticisms by the public and members of the opposition, including Leader, Michael Pintard who alleged that constitutional breaches were made by the government in the treasury advancing monies to the Progressive Liberal Party for the trip.
After publishing copies of the receipts and pledging to pay back the amount of money that was borrowed, Watson says the Davis-led administration has now settled their debt with the Treasury.
