Plans announced for 2019 Don’t Blink 242 Home Run Derby

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Plans for the second edition of the Don’t Blink 242 Home Run Derby were announced yesterday by one of the tournament’s hosts, Lucius Fox Jr.

Co-host Todd Isaacs Jr. was unavailable to attend the launch due to a training session overseas.

At the opening press conference, local and international participants were named, and the new team format was introduced to the public. The home run derby takes place on January 5 at the Montagu Foreshore.

“We were surprised to see the way that last year’s event turned out,” Fox said. “We want to thank all of the sponsors that come have come on board this year, because without them, none of this would even be possible. Our goal was to inspire as many kids as possible, and I felt that we did that, so we decided to bring it back.

“We made some adjustments to this year’s event that we think will bring some excitement. As soon as I went back away for the season, I was bombarded by guys that wanted to come down for the event. So, we decided to make it a team format where we could fit in as much competitors as possible.”

Prior to the start of the derby, the pro baseball players will host a youth clinic on January 4 at the Atlantis Resort from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We encourage every young player to come out and learn as much they could from the pros and interact with them as they prepare,” Fox added. “It will be a fun-filled experience that you won’t want to miss. We know that the kids are the future, so, we want to provide opportunities for them every chance that we get.”

Over 30 minor and major league athletes will compete in the second edition of the home run derby, including Fox (Tampa Bay Rays), Isaacs (Cleveland Indians), Jasrado Chisholm (Arizona Diamondbacks), Anfernee Seymour (Miami Marlins) and Dominique Collie (Arizona Diamondbacks) among others.
