Grand Bahama paint supplier moves to its new home

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Last week, Paint Fair celebrated the opening of its new 8,000-square-foot location on Bellevue Lane, just off Queen’s Highway some five years after its previous location suffered 10 feet of flooding in Hurricane Dorian.

Keystone Construction handled the design and construction, realizing the vision of Paint Fair President Lesley Davies-Baptista.

“The journey to the new facility was a challenging one,” said Davies-Baptista. “Enduring and recovering from Dorian, having to rent a place to get back up and running after the storm, and then COVID … it has been crazy to say the least.”

The 2019 storm caused severe flooding at Paint Fair’s former location on West Settler’s Way, which was built by Davies-Baptista’s late mother, Joan Davies, co-founder of Paint Fair with Colin Davies in 1980.

Despite the setbacks, Paint Fair secured a rental location and reopened just weeks after Hurricane Dorian, continuing to provide excellent service and products. During the pandemic, they successfully implemented an online order and curbside pickup service to help customers repair storm-damaged homes.

“But here we are today, grateful to be home; even though it is a new home, it already feels right,” Davies-Baptista said. “We’ve got new products, new lines, new technology, and it’s just a great space. So, we are excited for our customers to come visit this store.”

The new location offers a wider variety of paints, floor coatings, tools, and more from vendors like PPG Paint, International Paint, Sherwin Williams, and Florida Paint.

“We are proud to have some of our products here at Paint Fair,” said Florida Paint’s Tom Griffey. “We have floor coatings, interior and exterior products.” Griffey, who has worked with Paint Fair for over 20 years, encouraged local residents to explore the new location, especially with the holidays coming up.

Businesswoman Angela Toothe, impressed by the new store, added, “I fancy myself an amateur interior designer, so what I see here is great.” She’s already making a list of products for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

With a week in their new location, the Paint Fair team is preparing for the return of their popular color and design shows. “We are so excited to announce that we can finally resume our color shows,” said Davies-Baptista.

PPG Paint’s Color & Design Team will host events for architects, designers, and contractors on October 29th, followed by a DIY and residential show on October 30th. “Space is limited,” said Tim Neuner of PPG Paint. “We have a wonderful show planned, so be sure to follow Paint Fair’s Facebook and Instagram to secure your space.”
