Original Patties Bakery to hike prices August 25 amid rising global costs

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Original Patties Bakery Ltd has announced it will increase prices on all products from August 25, 2025, as global rises in raw material costs drive up operating expenses for the long-established Bahamian bakery and food distributor.

In a public notice to customers, the company said that while it had “tried to keep costs low,” it could no longer absorb the impact of higher input prices. “We have had to make the decision to increase our prices across all items. We will always strive to provide you with a quality product and the best value for money,” the statement read.

Founded in 1982, the company boasts of being the home of the country’s first “Hot Pattie” and has since grown into a major supplier of Bahamian, Jamaican, and other Caribbean pastries, delivering to retailers, wholesalers, hotels, restaurants, schools, and service stations in Nassau and the Family Islands.

Today, the bakery operates from Tonique Williams-Darling Highway with an outlet on Blue Hill Road and ships products nationwide. It is unclear how much the upcoming price increase will be.

While management did not respond to requests for comment yesterday, Dr. Leo Rolle, chief executive of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation, acknowledged that the private sector remains “concerned” over the impact of inflation on business.
