NASSAU, BAHAMAS — OMNi is rolling out a new digital financial ecosystem aimed at expanding access to electronic payments and the Central Bank’s digital currency, anchored by a nationwide network of two-way ATMs that will allow users to convert cash into SandDollar and withdraw SandDollar as physical currency.
The system forms the backbone of the company’s newly launched OMNiVerse, a digital hub designed to integrate the company’s financial services into a single platform that supports money transfers, lending, and business tools while operating with the speed and transparency of the SandDollar.
The transformation marks what OMNi describes as a strategic reintroduction of the long-standing Bahamian financial services provider, which is shifting toward a digital-first infrastructure aimed at broadening financial access across the country, including the Family Islands.
OMNi Chief Executive Officer Davinia Bain said the company used a recent period of reflection and restructuring to rebuild its platform and reposition the business.
“True evolution is about more than just moving forward; it is about taking full accountability for the road traveled and ensuring the path ahead is built on solid ground,” Bain said. “We have used our recent period of reflection and restructuring to build a version of OMNi that is stronger, more resilient, and deeply empathetic to the needs of our clients. The OMNiVerse is our promise of a better, more reliable way of banking reimagined for the world we live in now.”
Developed in collaboration with software architects at FinPlus Group, the OMNiVerse is intended to function as a comprehensive digital ecosystem that removes traditional barriers to financial services while maintaining regulatory transparency through integration with SandDollar.
Among its features is fully digital onboarding, allowing customers and merchants to verify their identity and join the platform within minutes. The system also enables wallet-to-wallet transfers powered by SandDollar, with funds capable of moving instantly between wallets and to banks or cards globally.
The platform includes a streamlined digital lending feature offering personal loans of up to $1,500 with approvals delivered within 24 hours, as well as a suite of services designed for small businesses, including revenue-based financing and payroll management tools aimed at entrepreneurs.
A key physical component of the ecosystem will be OMNi’s two-way ATM network, which the company says will provide nationwide access to digital currency by allowing customers to convert SandDollar to cash and cash to SandDollar.
To expand its cross-border capabilities, OMNi has also strengthened partnerships with international payment networks including TerraPay and Digicel MonCash, relationships facilitated through the Caribbean American Alliance (CAA).
Through those partnerships, the company says users will be able to conduct real-time cross-border transactions and wallet-to-wallet transfers to destinations including Haiti, China and the United States.
“The Caribbean American Alliance builds bridges between communities, economies, and opportunity. OMNi’s move toward a digital-first financial ecosystem reflects the kind of bold innovation we champion. By connecting OMNi with partners like TerraPay, Finplus, and Digicel MonCash, we’re proud to help expand faster, more reliable financial access across The Bahamas and the Caribbean diaspora,” said Carl Momplaisir, co-founder of the Caribbean American Alliance.
Bain said the company’s digital push is intended to reach both banked and unbanked users across the archipelago, combining digital services with physical access points.
“We believe that distance should never be a barrier to financial inclusion,” Bain added. “By combining the OMNiVerse with physical touchpoints like our new ATMs, we are ensuring that persons living in The Bahamas have access to pay, bank, and support their families without feeling detached from society. It’s more than just offering digital banking services, it is about giving dignity, reliability and accessibility to the most vulnerable communities.”
Founded in 2003, OMNi has focused on financial services including international remittances, personal loans and digital payments integrated with the SandDollar, the Central Bank of The Bahamas’ digital currency. The company says the OMNiVerse represents the next phase of its effort to expand practical financial access across the country.
