NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) and Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) were recently recognized for their “relentless efforts” in enforcing curfew orders in the country amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
During an awards ceremony on Friday, February 5, at the Cable Beach Police Station, police officers, defense force officers and marines were awarded certificates of appreciation for their continued dedication in assisting with the Emergency Orders.
Bringing remarks were Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King and Assistant Commissioner of Police Craig Stubbs, who commended and thanked both agencies for their efforts. Both officials reminded both uniformed branches of the vital role they play during this worldwide pandemic and how their presence on the streets at night is crucial.
In March 2020, the country was placed under emergency orders, and members of the RBDF assisted the police force in enforcing the curfew that was implemented by the government of The Bahamas. They were tasked with strategically manning the streets to ensure that everyone adhered to the curfew to aid in reducing the spread of COVID-19.
The joint operations of the two organizations “enhanced the levels of interoperability between both agencies, including increasing opportunities for collaboration, cooperation and consensus-building during the enforcement of the emergency orders”, the RBDF said.
