Sponsorship provides blockchain education and opportunities for underserved students

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The New Providence Ecology Park (NPEP) announced its sponsorship of the Bahamas Blockchain Business School, a virtual educational experience for students curious about emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and in demand 21st-Century human skills.

NPEP Chairman Felix Stubbs shared: “We are committed to helping build science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills in The Bahamas’ future innovators, and are proud to support Bahamas Blockchain Business School and the tangible ways they are providing opportunities for learning and advancement in this field.”

Bahamas Blockchain Business School was launched in 2019, bringing virtual learning — webinars and e-learning courses — within reach to students in underserved communities. Event creator Rhonda Eldridge noted that the organization aims to “put a dent in the widening digital divide, invariably impacting low-income families in The Bahamas and globally”.

Today, Bahamas Blockchain Business School has launched in five countries — The Bahamas, the United States, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos Islands — and has donated more than 300 data-enabled devices to students and families in low-income communities.

The 2021 programme, which runs from August 1 to August 13, includes numerous digital events and workshops centered around four pillars:

  • Plug-in to local coding academies in participating countries.
  • Future of work workshops.
  • Blockchain Hodl — online courses and interactive educational sessions.
  • Thee-day conference on blockchain and other emerging and innovative technologies.

More than 150 students have registered for Bahamas Blockchain Business School’s 2021 courses and events, accessible digitally throughout the five participating countries.
