Attorney General Carl Bethel told reporters Tuesday that the government does not have the money at this time to invest in the Coroner’s Court.
His comments came after he was questioned by reporters about the increase of police-involved shootings and the subsequent backlog of inquests.
More than 28 cases are under review by the court, with another nine police-involved shootings being added so far for 2018.
And, with little or no money and limited resources, the backlog continues to grow each month, leaving families in anguish, unable to get the closure they desire.
