The president remarked that the Senate has placed a “strong” emphasis on outreach and service; and while thanking senators for their “unselfish” contributions, she invited Barnett-Ellis to also participate in the various bipartisan outreach programs as senators seek to uplift and care for the needs of others.

Responding, Barnett-Ellis said she will endeavor to approach debates with a view to bringing as many of her colleagues opposite with her and listen to their contributions to see where there is “fertile” ground for a consensus.

She said: “I will faithfully discharge my duty to hold the members opposite accountable and ensure that all legislation approved in this place is in the best interest of The Bahamas and Bahamians.”

She extended thanks to everyone for their well wishes and committed to continue to do her part towards the advancement of The Bahamas.
