New ferry to connect West End Grand Bahama and West Palm Beach

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A new ferry service connecting West End, Grand Bahama, to West Palm Beach, Florida, is slated to launch in early 2025.

West Capital Ferry Company Ltd (WCF), which is described as a fully Bahamian-owned enterprise led by President Frederick N. Black, said in a statement that it is dedicated to supporting the Grand Bahama community.

“Our mission is to offer affordable ferry services, easing travel for inbound tourists and Bahamian shoppers while stimulating the local economy. We plan to create jobs, foster affiliate entrepreneurship, support local programs, and encourage growth in the West Grand Bahama district and the Northern Bahamas. Community support is crucial for our success as we prepare for launch,” WCF stated.

The company will hold a town hall meeting at St. Mary Magdalene Church in West Grand Bahama on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 6:30 pm., to discuss the ferry service’s anticipated social, environmental, and economic impacts and provide further operational details.
