Munroe weighs in on Oban deal

Despite the government’s continued revamping of the deal made with Oban Energies following widespread public concern,  noted attorney Wayne Munroe, QC, opined that the new deal will not satisfy the overwhelming environmental concenrs.

During the 2018/2019 Budget Debate, Labour Minister Dion Foulkes revealed that the government had gone back to the drawing board with investors and a new heads of agreemnt is expected to be signed soon.

Munroe, however, dubbed the new deal Oban 2.0 and said, he believes the new agreement will not be in the best interest of the country at large.

He also noted that the government has failed to have consultation on the new deal and described the move as another misstep.
