MSC Cruises to highlight cruise tourism and economic opportunities at Grand Bahama Business Outlook

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- MSC Cruises will play a leading role at the 27th Annual Grand Bahama Business Outlook on February 12 at the Pelican Bay Hotel, participating as both a conference sponsor and featured speaker.

Rick Sasso, Chairman of MSC Cruises North America, will address the forum during a presentation titled “Cruise Tourism & The Bahamas: Building Opportunity, Together.” His talk will examine the role of cruise investment in economic diversification, job creation, and sustainable growth for Grand Bahama.

MSC’s participation at the conference aligns with the company’s broader investment in Freeport, including the recently announced redevelopment of  Freeport Harbour through its affiliate, CTL Maritime. These efforts aim to strengthen Freeport’s position as a competitive cruise destination while supporting broader economic opportunities in tourism, retail, hospitality, and local business development across the island.

In addition to its corporate sponsorship, MSC Cruises is funding conference access for a number of senior high school students and teachers, giving them exposure to senior business leaders, policymakers, and global investors. Organisers say the initiative aims to bridge education and industry while giving students and educators firsthand insight into emerging economic opportunities.

The conference will also feature Prime Minister Philip Davis as keynote speaker, highlighting government priorities for economic growth and infrastructure development in Grand Bahama.

The Grand Bahama Business Outlook, hosted by The Counsellors Limited under the theme “Strengthening Foundations for Long-Term Prosperity,” brings together leaders from tourism, finance, infrastructure, technology, and human resources to examine strategies for sustainable growth and competitiveness. Presentations will cover workforce readiness, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, industrial development, financial services, consumer protection, and healthcare resilience.

Organisers noted that MSC Cruises’ combined focus on conference engagement, education sponsorship, and infrastructure investment reflects the cruise line’s expanding footprint in The Bahamas and its commitment to supporting both talent development and tourism-led economic growth.

Registration for the event is available at tclevents.com or by contacting Margaret Albury at 322-1000 or malbury@tclbahamas.com.
