Health minister Dr. Duane Sands confirmed Friday that there was mold in the showers in the maternity ward at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).
The issue came to light after a video of the mold went viral on social media.
Dr. Sands said that since the video’s release, the mold has been removed from the area however it will cost the nation some $140 million to build a new maternity wing. The hefty price tag is due to the fact that, according to Dr. Sands, the government cannot keep fixing the dilapidated facilities at PMH.
