NASSAU, BAHAMAS- November 9, 2020. The Ministry of Education Scholarship & Educational Loan Division’s Student-Athlete Resources & Support (STARS) Programme  re-opened its online sign up form via scholarshipsbahamas.com/stars. The sign up form will remain open from November 1st-November 30th, 2020. Student-athletes, their parents, high school and club coaches, guidance counselors, federation executives & college coaches  are encouraged to visit the website to learn more about the STARS programme, the criteria for joining, and to sign up. The programme will officially begin on Monday, November 16th, 2020 and run through June 2021.

According to the Coordinator of the Programme, Jurelle Mullings, “This year, we have revamped the STARS Programme, adapting to the online climate of learning with the primary goal of connecting  qualified student-athletes throughout the Bahamas with scholarship opportunities.”

In order to meet its goal, the Programme Coordinator has been communicating extensively with college coaches who have an interest in recruiting student-athletes from the Bahamas and organizing the online platform that will be used to assist the student-athletes with connecting to them.

The Student-Athlete Resources and Support (STARS) Programme provides Bahamian high school student-athletes with the tools they need to extend their educational and athletic experience beyond high school, to the collegiate level and beyond. In alignment with the mission of the Scholarship & Educational Loan Division, the STARS programme connects qualified Bahamian high school student-athletes with transformative scholarship opportunities to further their education by  extensively communicating, networking, and building relationships with students, parents, high school coaches, guidance counselors, and college coaches worldwide.

Since started in 2017, the STARS Programme has served over 600 student-athletes in the 9th-12th grades from throughout the Bahamas. Connecting over 35 student-athletes with nearly $2.5 million dollars in college scholarships.
