Ministers’ social media accounts hacked

It seems not even cabinet members are immune to cyber attacks.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, K.Peter Turnquest.

Both Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Peter Turnquest, and Darren Henfield, Minister of Foreign Affairs, issued statements yesterday stating that their Facebook accounts were hacked.

The statement advised that any messages sent in either MP’s name along with offering or soliciting financial assistance are false.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Darren Henfield.

Their plight is not a rare circumstance as dozens of other Bahamians claim to have reported their accounts ‘hacked’ in the last year to the multi-billion dollar company.

The ministers are asking the general public to exercise extreme caution and care when accessing all messages and to establish which ones are authentic and which are false.
