Mingoes set to take on international competition

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The University of The Bahamas (UB) men’s basketball team left for Florida yesterday for a three-game tour.

UB looks to continue its four-game New Providence Basketball Association (NPBA) win streak against St. Thomas University, Florida Memorial University and Broward College.

Head coach Bacchus Rolle said the team is not just looking to be competitive but to also hopefully pick up some quality wins on the road.

“This is going to be very difficult, playing three high-level teams in three days,” Rolle said.

“We are familiar with Florida Memorial. We played them a few times over the last few years. They have a new coach and a new system, so, it will be interesting to see if we can crack that. St. Thomas is a really big team with a lot of talent. We played them well the year before last, competing tough in the first half before falling apart in the second. As for Broward, it’s a smaller school, so, we look to pick up a win there.”

In its last game, UB scored an 87-84 win over the JD’s Seafood Shockers. Kemsy Sylvester led the Mingoes with 25 points in the win.
