Shaunae Miller-Uibo remained undefeated on the 2018 outdoor track and field season, scoring another win in the women’s 200-meters(m) in Birmingham on Saturday as International Association of Athletic Federation (IAAF) Diamond League action continued.
Miller-Uibo crossed the line in a meeting record of 22.15 seconds, coming from the middle of the pack to storm ahead down the stretch.
“Everything went really well, just as we planned. The main thing for me was just to have a great curve race, and once I put myself into the race off the curve, I used my 400 strength to power home,” Miller-Uibo said after the race.
“It was a really competitive race and everybody brought their A-game.”
Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith, who ran a world-leading 22.88 to win the European title last week, finished second in 22.31 seconds, and Dane Schippers, of the Netherlands, ran 22.41 seconds for third. Jamaica’s NAAC champion Shericka Jackson ended up fourth in 22.55 seconds.
Miller-Uibo was the only Bahamian to compete at the meet in Belgium over the weekend.
