Novice Bahamian Artists will have a chance to showcase their talents Sunday, August 5 in Pompey Square during a summer festival.

Presently in its third year, Music Artists Vocalists Showcase, also known as MAVS, will not only be showcasing the talents of musicians and singers but, also poets, painters, dancers – all areas of creative arts.

Bahamian musician Victor Johnson and founder of MAVS, spoke with Eyewitness News and explained why how MAVS was conceived.

During his summer breaks from Lee University, Johnson said he always found it challenging to find “gigs” where he would get paid as a musician.

After a referral from a friend, Johnson was able to be recognized as a ‘serious’ musician and it was then he realized the country’s gap in promoting young artists.
