Manhunt underway for driver who evaded police

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Authorities are searching for a suspect on Grand Bahama who evaded police by running into bushes following a high-speed chase.

According to reports, officers attached to the Mobile Unit observed the occupant of a gold Chevy in the area of East Sunrise Highway acting suspiciously and suspected the male driver possessed a firearm.

Police said the driver sped off after noticing the officers, who pursued him.

During the high-speed chase, the driver spun the vehicle around amidst traffic and drove in the opposite lane.

Officers continued to pursue the driver in the area of Seahorse Road, where the man stopped the vehicle and ran into nearby bushes.

“Police are now in search of the suspect who they have now identified,” police said.
