Man found guilty for father’s death

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The jury in the murder trial of 21-year-old Lee Lorenz Sweeting handed down a guilty verdict yesterday for the murder of his father back in November 2017.

The deceased, 76-year-old Leon Hasting Sweeting, was found stabbed to death in his home on Ambergris Street off Faith Avenue after family members reported him missing for several days.

Police and Emergency Medical Services were called and confirmed he was dead.

At the time, neighbors reported that Sweeting was not seen sitting in his yard as was customary. They notified family after not getting a response from him.

The son is expected back in court for a sentencing hearing on June 12, 2019 upon the completion of a probationary report.

Sweeting was represented by attorney Shaka Serville and attorneys Cordell Frazier and Gomez Jones appeared for the crown.
