Man dead in Carmichael shooting

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man was shot and killed in front of his house early this morning.

The killing brings the number of homicides for the year to 89, according to Eyewitness News records.

Superintendent Shanta Knowles, police press liaison, said the man and a woman were approached by a gunman as they arrived at their home off Carmichael Road shortly after 1am.

“A man and a woman arrived at their residence on Ashley Close off Hawk Ridge Road, Carmichael Road, when they were approached by a gunman who opened fire in their direction, shooting the male multiple times about his body, before running away,” Knowles said.

“The injured man was transported to hospital and a short time later succumbed to his injuries.

“The woman was not injured,” she added.

Meanwhile in other crime matters, another man is being treated at hospital after he was stabbed on Sunday.

Knowles said the man was on Bernard Road when he was approached by a group of men – one of whom stabbed him multiple times.

“The victim was able to escape from the men and ran into a nearby restaurant,” she continued.

“He was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition. Investigations are ongoing.”
