Man charged with murder

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Phillip Michael Farquharson, 29, was brought before Magistrate Samuel McKinney in court number one last Friday [Dec. 28], charged with the December 21 murder of Elcarta Murphy.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00 a.m. on the said date, officers responded to reports of a shooting at a nightclub in the Malcom Road area. There was a reported argument within an establishment which escalated, resulting in three men being shot.

Murphy reportedly succumbed to injuries while two others were treated in hospital.

Farquharson was also charged with the attempted murder of Maldando Lightbourne and possession of an illegal firearm with the intent to endanger the life of Archelus Lewis Jr.

The accused was not required to enter a plea to the charges and returns to court on March 4th where a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI) will be served.

Bail was denied and Farquharson was remanded The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
