A 70-year-old resident of Grand Bahama was arrested on Sunday night after it was alleged that he sexually assaulted his eight-year-old stepdaughter.
Eyewitness News understands that police were called to the home in Hudson Estates after the mother contacted the Police Control Room to report the matter.
A team of uniformed and plainclothes officers were said to have been dispatched to the home to investigate.
Eyewitness News understands that the girl’s mother reportedly awoke around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday and did not find her husband in bed, so she, therefore, went to look for him. This is when she allegedly caught her husband on top of the 8 year-old-girl and was sexually assaulting her.
Eyewitness News was informed that the woman allegedly told police that she suspected that her husband was having sexual intercourse with her daughter after she allegedly caught him jumping off her daughter and they both were naked. The woman said she screamed as her husband allegedly begged for forgiveness.
According to reports, the young victim alleged that it was not the first time that she had been sexually assaulted by the suspect and he also allegedly forced her to have anal sex.
Eyewitness News understands that victim and the alleged perpetrator were taken to the hospital to be examined.
