Male arrested at LPIA for drug possession

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 25-year-old male from Suriname was taken into custody at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) on Sunday, May 5, 2019, after he was found in possession of dangerous drugs.

According to police reports, shortly after 3:00p.m. on Sunday, Airport Division Officersconducted a search of a man who arrived in The Bahamas from Jamaica, via Caribbean Airlines, and recovered from his luggage eight packages of suspected marijuana.

The man was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a magistrate court this week.

The drugs weighed 1.8 pounds and had an estimated street value of $1,800.
