NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) runway rehabilitation project is ‘on schedule’ and is expected to be completed next month, officials at the Nassau Airport Development (NAD) company have confirmed.
Jan Knowles, vice-president of marketing and communications at the Nassau Airport Development company (NAD) confirmed to Eyewitness News project completion is anticipated during the month of November notwithstanding a material number of rain days in July and August.
She continued: “The project work hours were extended to ensure that the on-time schedule could be maintained.  The airport has successfully operated with a single runway and the advanced planning and mitigation steps taken to ensure the efficient operation of the facility during this project have proven successful.”
Back in June, the Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) began the extensive runway rehabilitation project on Runway 09/27 which will become runway 10/28 and Taxiway India at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA).
The cost of the project was stated at just under $20 million dollars and was awarded to Bahamas Hot Mix.
