Hurricane Dorian pounding the Abacos this afternoon
NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) will remain open today, according to the Nassau Airport Development Company.
In a statement, NAD said Air Traffic Services will be suspended at 10 p.m. and resume at 7 a.m. Monday due to visibility concerns as a result of heavy rainfall.
“We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and provide a further airport update at 7 a.m. on Monday,” NAD said.
The airport’s management said it anticipates that the airport will also remain open tomorrow, though it acknowledged airlines schedules may vary.
NAD said its stakeholders will continue to assess the movement and status of Hurricane Dorian, a dangerous and power Category 5 storm, pounding the Abacos this afternoon.
