Local fraternity to host music choir workshop

After celebrating 40 years of transformative services to the Bahamian community, the local chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated is giving the public the chance to support students through mentorship – all through the art of music – in their first ever, Choir Fest.

The fraternity is reaching out to students and even those who are part of church choirs to come out to rehearsals to join the mass choir this at St. Anne’s school.

Event organizer and members of the fraternity, Bertrum Bowleg and Daryl Hurston said, the final event following the workshop will be a concert at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Blue Hill Road South at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.

It will also feature singing by men of the fraternity and the women of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority.

A portion of the proceeds will, according to the fraternity, go toward their scholarship fund and a portion will be donated to those battling sickle cell disease.
