Learn2Prospuh pushes financial literacy to the forefront for the next generation

Learn2Prospuh pushes financial literacy to the forefront for the next generationNASSAU, BAHAMAS-  Learn2Prospuh, a student-focused financial literacy and entrepreneurship platform, is breaking the silence on money conversations in Bahamian households by equipping young people with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to make informed financial decisions well before graduation. Through digital learning, real-world experiences, and entrepreneurship programs, the platform is empowering students to understand budgeting, investing, and financial planning — giving them a head start on building a financially secure future.

For decades, money conversations in many Bahamian households have been delayed or avoided entirely — often surfacing only when students approach graduation or prepare for their first job interview. The result has been a generation of young people stepping into adulthood unprepared, unsure, and without the foundational knowledge needed to make sound financial decisions. Learn2Prospuh is aiming to close that gap by introducing earlier, more practical financial education through digital tools and real-world learning experiences.

Many Bahamian students encounter financial concepts for the first time after making major life choices, frequently without understanding salaries, budgeting, or even the basics of opening a bank account. This disconnect between academic instruction and practical readiness has left students with big ambitions but too little guidance on how to achieve them financially.

Learn2Prospuh believes the next generation already holds the tools to “Prospuh,” leveraging a digital-first approach focused on financial literacy — including investing, trading, and digital assets — as well as technology and entrepreneurship. The organization’s mission, according to Founder N’Nhyn O’Cof, is straightforward: “To teach students to leverage the tools already in their hands — their phones, laptops, and creativity — to build future-ready skills that empower them to earn, manage, and grow money.”

During its first Entrepreneurship Camp, held in Grand Bahama over the summer, students from grades 7 to 12 participated in immersive, hands-on sessions rarely offered in traditional classrooms. The four-day program exposed them to business development, marketing, content creation, financial modeling, and public speaking — all designed to build innovation, teamwork, and confidence.

“What we’re doing at Learn2Prospuh is bigger than teaching kids how to start a business,” said O’Cof, who also serves as CEO of O’Cof Securities. “We’re changing how young people view money, possibility, and the role they play in shaping their future. These students are learning how to think critically, earn creatively, and build confidently.”

More than 100 students left the camp not only with new concepts, but with tangible outputs — pitch decks, marketing strategies, and even digital prototypes. Their enthusiasm and creativity underscored how quickly young people can rise to the challenge when given the right information and support.

Camp Co-Host and Program Director Tracey Sands noted the strength of the students’ work: “I was blown away by how excited the students were to present their ideas — many of which were better than what we see in adult pitch competitions. At Learn2Prospuh, we believe the sooner students are exposed to real tools and knowledge, the sooner they’ll be able to make empowered decisions. Our goal is to make this access available year-round, from Grade 7 all the way through high school graduation.”

As Learn2Prospuh expands its reach, so too does its impact. With new mobile challenges, school visits, and youth competitions on the horizon, the organization remains committed to building a generation of financially aware, tech-savvy, and entrepreneurial Caribbean youth — starting now.
