Kerr named Athlete of the Week

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Adams State University (ASU) sprinter Ian Kerr was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week yesterday.

Kerr performed well this past weekend at the 41st Annual Aztec Invite hosted by San Diego State University. His winnings included two top-two individual finishes and a strong leg for the men’s 4×100 meters (m) relay team.

In the short sprints, Kerr clocked 10.54 seconds to pick up a gold medal in the open section of the 100m. He followed that up with a second-place finish in the men’s 200m dash in a time of 21.47 seconds. He was also a part of the men’s 4x100m relay team that won the open section of the event in 41.14 seconds.

Kerr’s time in the 100 is currently the fifth fastest in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, while his 200 time is tied for 16th.

Kerr and the Grizzlies will be back in action again this Friday and Saturday at the CSU-Pueblo Spank Blasing Invite.
