FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA — Last month, Kanoo’s sales team members paid a courtesy call on the executive team of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA) at its corporate headquarters in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

The team was on the island re-introducing Kanoo’s digital payments platform to Grand Bahamian merchants and consumers.

GBPA President Ian Rolle said: “We were delighted to meet with the Kanoo Sales Team and interested in learning more about their experience as they continue to do business in Freeport.

“The team expressed great confidence in our market and shared their vigorous strategy to gain more customers while promoting convenient, safe, contactless and cashless transactions, which is especially helpful during this time of COVID-19.”

The team, led by Kanoo Chief Sales Officer Jevon Butler, explained how important the visit to Grand Bahama was and in particular, meeting with GBPA. As a licensee, it was essential for the Kanoo team to update GBPA on what’s been happening in the marketplace and discuss future partnerships between the two entities.

Butler explained: “It was a wonderful experience sitting down with the Grand Bahama Port Authority executives as a representative of Kanoo. We appreciated the fact that they shared some great ideas with us, encouraged us along the way and advised that they will continue to support us.

‘As a Grand Bahama Port Authority licensee, we must grow our business here in Grand Bahama. So, we were excited to have the opportunity to meet with them.

“We had an extraordinary meeting. Hopefully, some great things will develop from what we’ve discussed.

“Presently, the Port Authority is also a merchant of Kanoo. Individuals looking to pay specific bills with the Port Authority can do that through the Kanoo application. We’re looking to expand that relationship to their website and other ways for payments to be received.”

With its main headquarters located in Nassau, Kanoo joined thousands of Grand Bahamian businesses when it became a licensee in September 2018.

Rolle added: “The GBPA continues to offer convenient options for national and international entrepreneurs to do business virtually in Freeport. We are pleased that Kanoo is actively demonstrating its dedication to helping local businesses provide secure digital transactions in our community.

“We further wish to encourage entrepreneurs to introduce innovative businesses in Freeport that will help sustain and grow our economy.”
