Jones, Sun win two in a row

Jonquel Jones and the Connecticut continue their hot start to the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) 2019 regular season.

In the second game of the season, Jones poured in 25 points on 10-16 shooting from the field, including four three-pointers, in an 88-77 win over the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night.

Jones scored 14 of her points in the first half to help the Sun build a 40-37 lead at halftime.  The Sun jumped out to a 19-9 run to start the third quarter and led 62-52 at the end of the period.

Courtney Williams chipped in with 13 points in the win and Alyssa Thomas added 10 rebounds for the Sun.

In the first two games of the season, the Sun have played with a variety of lineups, and they’ve done so successfully.

“We can only play so many minutes,” Jones said, “and sometimes when we come out there we aren’t able to do the things we think we’re able to do in the beginning, so when we have people that are bringing that spark off the bench, it matters so much. They’re a huge part of our team, and we wouldn’t be able to win games without them. We love that we have that trust and have those people behind us.”
