Jones signs with Texas Tech

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- One of the country’s premier junior sprinters has elected to continue his track and field career at Texas Tech University next fall.

Terrence Jones, the junior national record holder in the 200-meters (m), committed to the Red Raiders earlier in the week.  The 18-year-old won two medals at the 2019 CARIFTA championships in George Town, Cayman Islands in April.

Jones ran a personal best time of 46.29 seconds in the under-20 boys 400m for the regional title in that event. He ran a personal best in the 200 at the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) senior nationals, crossing the line in 20.43 seconds.

The junior sensation still has two more seasons remaining as a junior athlete, an is eligible for CARIFTA through the 2021 season.
