Illegal firearms recovered, one arrested

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police, acting on information, recovered several illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence in separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, South Western Division Officers, acting on information, conducted a search of an area located on Opulent Avenue and recovered three firearms, namely, a 12-Gauge Maverick Shotgun with seven shotgun shells, a .25mm Pistol and a .380 pistol with four rounds of ammunition.

No arrests were made.

In the second incident, shortly after midnight on Tuesday, March 19, Flying Squad Officers while on patrol in the area of Deveaux Street observed a male acting suspiciously.

The male was searched and found in possession of a .43 Glock 9mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition.

The male was arrested and taken into custody.

Investigations are ongoing.
