Illegal drugs seized worth $32,500, adult male in custody

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police in the capital recovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana on Friday, April 5, 2019.

According to police reports, shortly after 7:00a.m. on Friday, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by the K-9 Unit, executed a search warrant on a home on Portago Road, Oakes Field, and recovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana.

An adult male was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before the magistrate’s court sometime this week.

The marijuana weighed 32.5 pounds and has a street value of $32,500.

Investigations are ongoing.
