Illegal ammunition seized, adult male in custody

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An adult male was taken into custody following the seizure of a quantity of illegal ammunition on Tuesday, January 15.

According to police reports, shortly before 6:00 p.m., Flying Squad Officers and officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, were responding to reports of gunshots being fired in the area of Culmer’s Alley off Kemp Road, when they observed a male, standing on the side of the street.

The male, upon seeing the officers, began running. Officers gave chase, caught the male and recovered from him fifteen 15 rounds of .45 ammunition and three rounds of 9-millimetre ammunition.

The male was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before the magistrate court this week.
