NASSAU, BAHAMAS- As part of its continued commitment to community engagement and national heritage preservation, HGChristie proudly served as a Silver Level sponsor of the 3rd Annual Elbow Reef Classic, held May 21–24, 2025, at Hope Town Inn and Marina. The highly anticipated event brought together more than 90 anglers from across The Bahamas and the United States, all united by a shared purpose—to protect and preserve the iconic Elbow Reef Lighthouse on Elbow Cay.
The tournament, organized by the Elbow Reef Foundation (ERF) for the benefit of Elbow Reef Lighthouse Society (ERLS), is more than a fishing competition—it’s a vital fundraiser that shines a light on the historic 1863 Elbow Reef Lighthouse, the last of its kind in the world still operated manually.
Now in its third year, the Elbow Reef Classic has grown in participation and impact, with more registered teams and billfish releases than ever before. The tournament culminated in an awards dinner and fundraiser, which was held at the Hope Town Inn. Multiple prizes were awarded, to see a full list of tournament winners, visit the Elbow Reef Classic on Instagram.
In addition to corporate support, many HG Christie team members actively contribute to events like this across The Bahamas. Heather Forde-Prosa, an HGC real estate agent and co-founder of the Elbow Reef Foundation, has been instrumental in the event’s development and the preservation mission at large.
“Passion for our communities runs deep at HG Christie,” said Forde-Prosa. I’m proud to share how far we’ve come—not just in terms of restoration but in building awareness and rallying support. This lighthouse is a living symbol of Bahamian resilience, and we’re committed to keeping that light on.”
Tournament Director Allison Reis noted the event’s growing reach and purpose-driven focus: “The 3rd Annual Elbow Reef Classic brought together an incredible mix of professional anglers, families, locals, and rising junior talent from across the United States—all united by a shared passion for fishing and a greater purpose. The Classic isn’t just another tournament—it’s a celebration of community, conservation, and the iconic Elbow Reef Lighthouse.”
Laura Gallagher, President of the Elbow Reef Foundation, echoed those sentiments: “As both a participant and a leader in this cause, it’s exciting to see this tournament grow each year. The energy is unmatched—the fishing is fantastic, the parties are fun, and the sense of community is incredible. We’re grateful to all our partners and corporate donors who understand the importance of preserving this national icon.”
Through initiatives like the Elbow Reef Classic, HG Christie continues to demonstrate its belief in community-driven action—supporting local events, cultural heritage efforts, and nonprofit organizations across The Bahamas. Whether through financial sponsorship or the personal involvement of its realtors and team members, HGC remains dedicated to strengthening the communities it serves.
