Gunman kills accomplice during shooting

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Police say that a 24-year-old man on bail for murder was killed by his accomplice during a shooting in the Yelder Elder Gardens community on Sunday afternoon. 

The shooting occurred around 3:15 pm on Lightbourne Street, Yellow Elder Gardens. Based on preliminary reports, two men wearing masks, dark clothing and gloves, were seen running westward on Lightbourne Street while firing gunshots.

It is alleged that the victim was fatally wounded during the exchange of gunfire. The second gunman fled the area on foot.  Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene and confirmed the victim showed no signs of life. The deceased is known to police as he was presently on bail for Murder. 

Police are appealing to members of the public, especially residents of the Yellow Elder community, who may have information regarding this incident to contact 911, 919, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477). 

Police are also investigating reports of an alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old female. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday aboard a cruise ship docked at the Nassau Cruise Port.
