Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources Michael Pintard on Monday expressed the government’s resolve to tackle the issue of poaching in Bahamian waters.

He remarks came after touring a Dominican vessel, which was apprehended by Royal Bahama Defence Officers yesterday.

The vessel had 46 Dominican nationals aboard along with more than 60,000 pounds of illegally obtained fish, lobster and other seafood.

The men are expected to be formally charged.

As for Pintard, he said the plan is to address the issue through stiffer penalties.
