NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Renowned gospel artist Cartnell Johnson, best known as a member of the music group ‘Christian Massive’, was yesterday arraigned in a magistrate’s court on one count of rape.
Johnson, 48, appeared before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.
He was not required to enter a plea to the charge that he allegedly raped a woman on March 8, 2019.
Johnson was remanded to The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services as the magistrate did not have the jurisdiction to grant bail.
He returns to court on May 28 for the matter to be forwarded to the Supreme Court via a voluntary bill of indictment.
Attorney Bjorn Ferguson represents Johnson.
Speaking to Eyewitness News Online, Ferguson said his client is “anxiously waiting on his day in court…”
