A late-night drive-by shooting in Grand Bahama has left one man in hospital and police officers on the hunt for the perpetrator.
Police reports indicate that the incident unfolded sometime before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Authorities said, two male occupants of a silver two-door Chevrolet Cavalier, were reportedly driving on Mall Drive, in the area of the RND Plaza, when another vehicle – a silver Mazda, reportedly drove next to them and began shooting.
The shooter made good his escape thereafter, police confirmed.
According to reports, the male driver of the Cavalier sustained injuries to the upper body, while the passenger escaped the confrontation unscathed.
Police said the male passenger drove the vehicle and took the injured victim to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where the driver is still listed in serious condition.
Police said they are investigating this incident and appeal to the general public for any information that can assist in solving this crime.
Bimini drug bust
Meantime, police reported a successful drug bust on Bimini Tuesday night, which uncovered over $3,000 worth of suspected marijuana.
Investigators said intelligence led officers in Bimini to an area on Queen’s Highway in Alice Town, shortly after 9:00 p.m. yesterday,
A search of that area, police said, uncovered a plastic bag which contained over three pounds of suspected marijuana with an estimated street value of $3,200.
While police have made no arrests in connection with this discovery, investigations are said to be ongoing.
