GALLERY: Governor General in Botswana for official visit

BOTSWANA — The Governor General of the Bahamas, H.E. Dame Cynthia Pratt, is in Botswana for an official visit.

Among many activities on her agenda, Pratt and her delegation took part in a game drive at the Mokolodi Nature Reserve. The Reserve was created in 1994 on bushveld land that had previously been used for cattle farming. Members of the delegation toured part of the 3,700-hectare reserve. The Reserve is unique: fee-based tourism helps fund conservation and educates over 9,000 schoolchildren every year.

The delegation also visited the Botswana National Museum and youth products exhibition before make their way to the Gaborone Women’s Prison, where Pratt addressed both staff and occupants. While there, she commended the Botswana Prison Service for focusing more on prisoner training and rehabilitation.
