Online home goods and furnishings store launched
NASSAU, BAHAMAS — For more than three decades, Furniture Plus has been known to Bahamians as much more than just a place to buy beds, sofas and side-tables.
This homegrown, generational family company has always been dedicated to doing whatever it takes to help other families transform houses into homes, regardless of their circumstances.
A longstanding commitment to community service, established by the founder, Tyrone d’Arville, led to the company pioneering many ‘firsts’ in the country. It was the first store of its kind to feature showrooms scaled to the size of actual Bahamian rooms, allowing customers to envision their own home design, and also the first to offer in-house financing to help ensure that all Bahamians have a fighting chance at fulfilling their dreams.
Now, as the company announces a total rebranding, including a new logo evoking the power of transformation, Furniture Plus has unveiled yet another milestone, announcing the launch of the first-ever nationwide commercial home goods website of its kind, where local customers can visit to peruse, choose and purchase not just furniture, but also a wide array of appliances and electronics.
“The ‘plus’ in Furniture Plus has always stood for our commitment to going a little further in an effort to help people, help families,” said Krystynia Lee d’Arville, President and CEO.
“Our new commercial site will serve the entire Bahamas with vastly enhanced digital services, but the Company will maintain the same service-focused familiarity and considerate approach with all of its customers.”
Furniture Plus chose Brand Strategist, Nicky Saddleton, to conceptualize the new logo and rebrand, aligning key visuals and messaging with the
envisioned transformation theme.
Saddleton led the design team that created the Furniture Plus logo 25 years ago. This time, the co-founder of Octopus Digital steered an internal ‘Brand Transformation Team’ that included President and CEO, Krystynia Lee d’Arville, VP and General Manager, Dawn Forbes; Candice Burrows, Director of Sales; and Kam Cheng, Graphic Designer/Art Director.
Nicky Saddleton also brought in Writer, Joy Sweeting, and collaborated with Graphic Designer, Shannon Bruce to enrich the new brand and website with impactful storytelling and a visually enhanced user experience.
On October 7, Furniture Plus invited the public to experience its new brand identity firsthand. Crowds streamed to the Town Center Mall location to witness the unveiling of a new logo and website, and were treated to logo-inspired catering and face-painting; rebranded swag; plus giveaways hosted by SawyerBoy, and steel pan favorites by Lenny and Friends.
The event culminated with a celebratory Junkanoo rush-out led by Colours. The group’s 20-year anniversary occurred during the pandemic, and this performance was their first since Covid19 restrictions were lifted. Leader, Chris Justilien, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to commemorate Colours’ milestone with their performance at the Furniture Plus rebrand, celebrating the power and beauty of transformation.
Furniture Plus was the first big-box home goods store designed to serve emerging communities in eastern, southern, and western Nassau. It was also the first to provide affordable and flexible in-house financing at a time when securing bank loans was very difficult for many Bahamian families and the first to build a Distribution Center capable of being used as a national disaster response depository for hurricane relief.
The Company also hosted a private event at Fusion on October 8, flying in their Freeport team to join Nassau at a gala including cocktails, entertainment, staff gifts and recognition, and a retrospective of the Company’s history, transformation, and future plans.
