FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA – Reports are that on Thursday, January 18, shortly before 3:00 p.m., traffic police, while in the Downtown area, observed a gray 2011 Infiniti vehicle that was parked unattended with the engine running in the street.
While an officer made the necessary check of the vehicle, a male exited a restaurant, entered the vehicle and speed off.
The officer gave chase and the vehicle crashed in the area of Tasman Close and Adventurers Way, where the suspect escaped on foot.
A 9mm pistol with six live rounds of ammunition was discovered in the vehicle.
In a separate incident in Grand Bahama, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit recovered an illegal firearm on Saturday.
According to police reports, on Saturday, January 19, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Drug Enforcement Unit Officers, while on mobile patrol in the Pioneer’s Way and Livingston Drive area, observed a suspicious male, who upon seeing the police fled the area.
Officers searched the area and discovered a black and silver pistol with two rounds of ammunition.
No arrests were made and investigations continue.
