Firearm, ammo and drugs found on mailboat, six arrested

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police in New Providence took five males and a female into custody following the discovery of a large quantity of dangerous drugs, a firearm, and ammunition on Friday, Feb. 22.

According to police reports, shortly before 8:00 p.m., South Eastern Division Officers, assisted by K-9 Officers and acting on information, searched a mail boat at the Potters Cay Dock where they discovered two taped boxes containing six packages of suspected marijuana and a Smith a Wesson Pistol, along with a magazine with 11 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Police said the estimated weight of the drugs is 30 pounds.

Six crew members were taken into custody for questioning.
