NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A local entrepreneur says he is remaining “hopeful” over the tourism industry’s rebound, having had to close his company’s doors amid “significant” losses.
Jay Forbes founded Tasty Teas along with his mother back in 2013, offering whole tea leaves, filtered tea bags and iced teas made with Bahamian plants herbs and fruits.
He told Eyewitness News that company remains closed amid the tourism industry’s shutdown.
Forbes said: “We had tried reopening our doors to accommodate locals but we saw on average one percent of customers for the weeks we were open, when comparing those numbers to tourist traffic.”
“I am hopeful about the tourist industry,” he continued.
“I understand that it will take a while before things get to where they were, however, my faith pushes me to believe that it will get better. At this time I am focusing on a number of other business ventures that are essential.
Forbes added: “The aim is to be able to offer goods and services that will always be needed. We intend to push Tasty Teas as a household brand as well. We’re working on some things by the grace of God.”
