Elderly man drowns at Adelaide Village

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — An 87-year-old man allegedly drowned while swimming in waters at Adelaide Village on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the elderly man was swimming with a male relative when a wave swept them a short distance from the shoreline shortly before 5pm.

“Both men resurfaced; however, the victim appeared to be unconscious,” read a statement.

“Subsequently, EMS personnel were summoned and confirmed the victim had no signs of life.

“Foul play is not suspected in this matter. Police investigation continues.”
