NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Government officials, members of the business and medical community along with friends and well-wishers, gathered at the grand opening of Dynamic Healing Wellness Center on Baha Mar Blvd. for the official ribbon-cutting of the $1.2 million “state-of-the-art “chiropractic and physical therapy facility.
After practicing for over 14 years and running her own practice for eight years this July, the journey to this day, according to Dr. Shantell Missick, founder of Dynamic Healing Wellness Center, was one filled with laughter, tears, determination, and grit.
“I am truly overjoyed to be standing here and sharing this very special and personal accomplishment with so many of you,” beamed Dr Missick. “Having eight years under my belt in running my own practice, I’ve realized that it is truly by God’s grace and through the support of my family and my dedicated team members that makes serving the Bahamian community so gratifying. My number one priority is educating and helping persons achieve their optimal potential of health by empowering them to take charge and to make more conscious decisions.”
Sharing these sentiments was Senator Ronald Duncombe who brought remarks on behalf of Prime Minister Philip Davis.

Drawing on his own experience as a medical professional, Former Prime Minister, and Member of Parliament for Killarney, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis shared, “As a doctor of many years, I can attest to what it means to offer health and healing to those in need of relief and pain management and elimination. Given the realities and stresses of daily life in The Bahamas, the provision of a range of chiropractic and physical therapies is essential. I also celebrate what this center of healing and wellness will mean for the many Bahamians who will utilize your services and facilities.”
Outgrowing a previous location due to increased numbers of patients seeking treatment and with the need to expand to offer highly requested complementary services, the only logical decision was to build from the ground up. Truly a family affair, with architectural design by father-in-law Edward Missick, lead contractor her father Gladstone Rolle, and the interior decorating undertaken by her husband Tavaree, the end product resulted in a tasteful marriage between exquisite design and functionality.
The 3,000 sq. ft. building boasts one physical therapy and four treatment rooms enabling the seven-member team of chiropractors and therapists to deliver essential rehabilitative services to thousands more patients with a focus on restoration from a holistic approach. Complete with a decompression table, the nature of this non-surgical spinal decompression treatment benefits patients presenting with bulging, herniated or deteriorated discs. Through the intermittent stretching and relaxing of the spine, the negative pressure created allows the bulging or herniated material to move back into the disc while allowing for the movement of beneficial molecules jumpstarting the body’s natural healing response and reducing back pain.
“The most rewarding experience in practice has been helping persons shift from a life of pain and suffering to that of a higher quality of life, not only physically, but in every dimension of their lives,” Dr. Missick said. “I am very proud to be the only chiropractic and physical therapy facility in the country to offer aquatic therapy with our on-site 25ft. pool. Our patients love the sheer convenience of having access to the pool as a continuation of their treatment without the need of splitting time across facilities in multiple locations and look forward to their sessions.”
The Center utilizes other advanced technologies, including Insight Millennium Spinal Technology, to determine the overall state of the central nervous system as it detects and pinpoints abnormal function in the spine undetectable by an x-ray. The Postural Analysis System assesses a person’s posture, displaying any abnormalities, imbalances, and underlying causes aiding in the development of an appropriate course of treatment.
Dr. Shantell Missick began her tertiary studies at the College of the Bahamas and graduated from Wingate University in Charlotte, NC with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University in Atlanta, Ga.. Dr. Missick served in many leadership capacities including being a past President of the Bahamas Association of Chiropractic and is the current Bahamas representative to the International Chiropractors Association. She has lectured at Southern College, teaching anatomy & physiology, and public health.
