NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two men appeared before Magistrate Subusola Swain on Monday in connection with the discovery of nearly $2 million worth of marijuana on a boat in waters near New Providence earlier this month.

Jamaican national, Jason Loble and Bahamian Tafferon Fraser were charged with possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply and conspiracy to possess drugs with the intent to supply.
According to police, shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, Drug Enforcement Officers, assisted by Marine Support Officers and Drug Enforcement Officers from the United States intercepted a 21-foot vessel a quarter of a mile south of New Providence.
The vessel was searched and police discovered 60 bags of marijuana weighing 1,840 pounds with an estimated street value of $1.8 million dollars.
The men pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections until February 27, 2019 for trial.
