Speculations surfaced Thursday that strong current in the Nassau Harbor may have led to the deaths of two fishermen within the span of one week.

One man died after drowning in the water surrounding Potter’s Cay Dock on August 17 and a second man met the same fate on Wednesday.

Police have yet to determine what led to the drowning incidents, but licensed diver at Stuart’s Cove Giovanni Stuart suggested that strong current in the harbor or asphyxiation could have led to the men losing their lives while diving.

Autopsy reports on both men are expected to provide more conclusive details surrounding what led to the separate drowning incidents.
